Care for Dominant Dogs | Kennel Club Boarding
Understanding Dominant Dogs
At Kennel Club Boarding, we understand that every dog has a unique temperament and behavior. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all our furry guests, including dominant dogs. Our team is trained to handle a variety of behaviors, ensuring that each dog receives the attention and care they need. By recognizing the unique traits of dominant dogs, we can create a positive and supportive atmosphere for all our guests.
Characteristics of Dominant Dogs
Dominant dogs are those that exhibit certain behaviors which may not be suitable for group play. For their safety and the safety of other dogs, dominant dogs will not be included in play groups. They can be booked under the category of "dog that does not play well with other dogs." This classification ensures that each dog is placed in the appropriate environment to prevent conflicts and promote well-being. Dominant dogs may display one or more of the following behaviors:
- Guarding: Protecting objects, food, or spaces.
- Inappropriate Mounting: Attempting to mount other dogs or humans.
- Stealing Attention: Diverting attention from other dogs or humans.
- Demanding Attention: Insistently seeking attention from dogs or humans.
- Refusing to Move: Not responding to commands to move.
- Demanding Play: Insisting on playtime from dogs or humans.
- Disruptive Behavior: Any other actions that negatively impact the enjoyment of other dogs.
Recognizing these behaviors is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of all dogs at our facility. Our experienced staff is adept at identifying and managing these traits, allowing us to provide a tailored experience that meets the needs of dominant dogs while maintaining a harmonious environment for all our guests.
Safety and Care
For the well-being of all our guests, dominant dogs will receive individual attention and care to ensure they have a positive experience without posing a risk to others. However, please note that dominant dogs who show any aggression towards humans must be booked as a bite risk dog. Dogs who display aggressive or disruptive behavior towards other dogs must be booked for our "does not play well with other dogs" or our special care service. Dogs who are not properly booked may be refused service. This policy helps us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone at Kennel Club Boarding.
