Guidelines for Intact Dogs: Females and Males
At Kennel Club Boarding, we have specific guidelines for accepting intact dogs to ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests. Here’s what you need to know:
Female Dogs
We welcome intact females for all our services, provided they are not in active heat. Typically, females are in heat for 2 to 4 weeks at a time. Unfortunately, we cannot accept females at any stage of their heat cycle to maintain a safe environment for all dogs. This policy helps us prevent any potential issues that could arise from having a female in heat among other dogs, ensuring a calm and controlled environment.
When a female dog is in heat, she can attract a lot of attention from male dogs, which can lead to increased stress and potential conflicts. By not accepting females in heat, we can maintain a peaceful atmosphere where all dogs can relax and enjoy their stay. If you are unsure about your dog's heat cycle, please consult with your veterinarian before booking their stay with us.
We understand that managing a dog's heat cycle can be challenging for pet owners. If your female dog is in heat, we recommend scheduling her stay with us outside of this period. This way, she can fully enjoy her time with us without any added stress or complications. Our staff is always available to answer any questions you may have about this policy and to help you plan the best time for your dog's stay.
Male Dogs
Intact males are also welcome, as long as they are well-behaved. Should an intact male attempt to mount other dogs or display other problematic behavior, we will update their booking to the "Special Care Required" service. This means, for their safety and the safety of others, they will no longer interact with other dogs during their stay. Future stays will also require booking as a "Special Care Required" dog.
Mounting behavior in intact males can be a sign of dominance or excitement, and it can lead to conflicts with other dogs. By closely monitoring this behavior, we can ensure that all dogs have a positive experience during their stay. If your intact male dog has a history of mounting or other problematic behaviors, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Our "Special Care Required" service ensures that dogs with specific needs receive the attention and care they deserve. This service includes additional one-on-one time with our staff, supervised playtime with other dogs one at a time, and a gradual introduction to other dogs to ensure a positive experience. This personalized approach helps us cater to the unique needs of each dog, providing them with a safe and enjoyable stay.
We believe that every dog deserves the best care, regardless of their behavior or special needs. Our experienced staff is trained to handle a variety of situations and to provide the highest level of care for all dogs. Whether your dog requires special attention due to behavioral issues or medical needs, we are here to ensure they have a comfortable and stress-free stay.
In addition to our standard services, we offer a range of activities and amenities to keep your dog entertained and happy. From interactive play sessions to relaxing walks, we tailor our services to meet the individual needs of each dog. Our goal is to create a home-away-from-home environment where your dog can feel safe, loved, and well-cared for.
We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all dogs. By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure that every dog in our care has a comfortable and stress-free stay. If you have any questions or concerns about our policies, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our team is always here to help and to provide you with the information you need to make the best decision for your dog's care.
